Tennessee Transplant, 2006
cardboard, soil, Tennessee grass
boxes range from 6" x 6" x 6" to 18" x 18" x 24"
Ten cardboard boxes were placed on MICA's Cohen Plaza lawn containing dirt and grass that was grown in the state of Tennessee. Installed on Sunday, April 23rd, 2006 the boxes were not removed until Sunday, May 7th inevitably killing the grass underneath (thumbnail 2). At the end of the two weeks the dead grass was cut out and replaced by the grass from the boxes (thumbnails 4, 5 and 6). Although this new grass was grown in Tennessee it is the same type as that of the plaza lawn. Eventually these new patches of grass and the surrounding lawn grew together, leaving no perceptible difference.
