Making Amends No. 24 (foam block 2)

I recently met William Paul Thomas, an amazing artist based in Durham, NC. In addition to his striking portraits, Thomas began a side project titled, Hot Pink Brick. Considering my love of cinderblocks, it seemed only obvious that I should participate in this collaboration. I decided to repair my final cinderblock in this series with pink flexible foam. Unlike the other sculptures in this series, however, Foam Block 2 incorporates no original cinderblock pieces, deeming it the most ridiculous fix to date.

Making Amends is an ongoing series in which I repair, replace and/or augment broken objects using ridiculous, time-consuming and entirely unnecessary means. I specifically choose disposable products that were never designed to be fixed in the first place, in order to highlight the extreme throwaway culture that pervades American society.
